How We Met – Denay’s Version

I met Greg at the San Diego “W” Hotel in May of 2003. I planned a dinner party with my brother, Kyle, who was visiting from NYC, my good friend Debbie and Avtar. Greg and his friend Bobby showed up to dinner per Avtar’’s invitation. Greg and I did not have the opportunity to speak much at dinner but at the end of the evening our handshake turned into an extended handshake that lasted about 20 seconds. Sparks flew!
One month later, I casually mentioned to Debbie that I was interested in seeing Greg again. Well, it just so happened that 2 days after that, our mutual friends prepared an Indian dinner and Greg was going to be there! Thank you Avtar and Debbie! I cancelled my previous plans as soon as I found out and headed over to the dinner. We hit it off over an Indian feast. The days, weeks and months following that evening, Greg and I continued to have fun and spent much time surfing, going to amazing restaurants, exercising, enjoying concerts, traveling and always having a blast…
Well, those months turned into years and we still have so much fun in everything that we do that it seems as though it is the first date over and over again! I love you Greg and appreciate all of our wonderful times together.

How We Met – Greg’s Version

I first met Denay at the “W” Hotel in San Diego. My friend Avtar had invtied me to a dinner that Denay had organized. The dinner was to celebrate her brother, Kyle, visiting. I showed up a little late with another friend of mine, Bobby. When I arrived at the table everyone had been there for a bit. Avtar decided to introduce me by saying, “Everyone, I would like you to meet my good friend Greg Trinidad. He just got dumped by his girlfirend.” Thanks Avtar, I think you got me the pitty vote from Denay. I was very embarrassed. We ended up hanging out a little while longer. I talked to Denay a little bit here and there, but not that much because she was there with another guy! I found her very attractive. They ended up wanting to go to On Broadway (a San Diego night club where, my X-girlfriend that dumped, me worked) for some dancing. I chose to pass… however when saying good night to Denay we experience the “extended hand shake”, which my way of saying that I was attracted to her and I think it was her way of saying the same.
The next day I asked for Denay’’s number from Avtar. He was friends with a friend of Denay’’s, Debbie, and that is how he and I ended up at Denay’’s dinner. He said he would get it and never did. I hounded him and hounded him and finally gave up. I thought he was being lazy. He called me a couple weeks later to go to another dinner. I told him I was relaxing at home and was not up for it. He told me that Denay might be going and I had a change of heart. After a quick shower and shave I was there. I got to the dinner, had some great Indian food, ended up with Denay’’s phone number and the rest is history.
Thank you Avtar for inviting me to those dinners. Thank you Debbie for inviting Denay. Thank you Kyle for visiting your sista’’(as Brandom pronounces it). Thank you Denay for hosting that first dinner, coming to the second and leaving with me for the rest of our lives. You bring happiness to everyday of my life. I love you.

Tyler, Best Man
Tyler and I met in college. He was got me into Lifeguarding. We became men on that beach together and continue to be best friends. I was honored as his Best man when he married his beautiful wife Emily. We have traveled, surfed, lived, and worked together. I consider his family my family. He someone I look up to and sets the standard of what everyone should live up to.
James, Best ManJames (a.k.a “J2”) is an amazing person, the best surfer I know and has shared his energy and lust for surfing with me along with his good nature and fun loving spirit. In the years that I have known him he has quickly become an important part of my life and my best friend (It is a multi person title). We have traveled, surfed, lived, and worked together. I consider him a brother and look forward to surfing as old men together.
Brandon, Ring BearerThe Big B… Brandon is Denay’s oldest nephew. His is a ball of energy that likes to be thrown up in the air, held upside down by the feet and loves his tools. Denay and I both think he is the most handsome futtin’ boy on the East Coast.
Lucas, Ring BearerLucas “The Jedi” Pereira, is strong in the force. Luke Skywalker has nothing on my nephew in the Jedi Skill Department. He is the smartest in his class and is a great person to be around. He is beyond his years and already a stand up guy. I know that he is going to grow up to be an amazing individual. I am lucky to call myself your uncle. Lucas, may the force be with you.
Bobby, GroomsmanBobby is the best at what he does. What makes you have to respect him is that he is the best because he is the most dedicated and hard working person on the team. In addition to that he is someone you can always count on. We have traveled, surfed, lived, and worked together. He is another one of my best friends and if I did not think it was ridiculous to have all my best friends as best men, he would be another. I was honored at his wedding to his beautiful wife Lisa as a groomsman.
Eric, GroomsmanMy Road Dog… Eric is a very special person to me as he is to everyone who meets him. He is calm cool and collected in everyway and in every situation. At the same time he has an amazing energy that is projected through his music and life experiences. We have traveled and worked together. I am so glad to have been lucky enough to have Eric in my life and he will always be my Road Dog.
James, GroomsmanJames (a.k.a “J1”)… there are not words in the English language that I can use to express how great of a person J1 is, but I will try in the next 40. I met James in college, we became friends our freshmen year, we graduated and started a business together, we have been business partners ever since. He has been by my side, everyday, seen me at my best and at my worst and I him. He has always been there for me and I could never have done everything that I have without him. He is another one of my brothers and my best friends. I look forward your wedding and being one of your groomsmen.
Kyle, GroomsmanKyle, my soon to be brother and Denay’s Favorite and oldest brother. He has been one of the best oldest brothers that I have known. He is always looking out for you, helping you when you need it, and doing the coolest stuff. He has a great energy and lust for knowledge that sets a new standard for which we should all strive. Elyce is my sweet and wonderful Big sister. Growing up, I was the little sister that wanted to be with her every minute and everywhere. As adults, we still want to be around each other all the time. Elyce lives in New Jersey and I in San Diego so I make sure to go back and spend time with her and her 4 amazing children every 3-4 months.
C.C., Maid of HonorC.C. and I met in college while working as Cart Girls at Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara, California. We became roommates and best friends. C.C. and I always laugh and know how to be silly and share a wonderful friendship. C.C. just moved from Washington state to San Diego. Just in time for wedding planning!
Alexandra, Flower GirlAlexandra is my favorite and only niece. She has always been my buddy for the day she was born. We enjoy going to the movies together, playing school, going to Libby Lou’s to get her hair and makeup done, swimming and so much more. Alexandra is a mover so there is always action going on. We are excited to have Alexandra in the wedding and she is going to be a beautiful flower girl.
Julia, Flower GirlJulia is Greg’s favorite and only niece and my soon to be niece. Julia is a great musician and we are hoping to hear her saxophone playing skills at one of the wedding celebrations. She is always so sweet and everyone just loves her. Greg and I are so excited that Julia is going to be a part of our special day.
Christin, BridesmaidChristin is my cousin but really my sister. We were born 2 months apart and were raised spending much of our time together. She can always make me laugh and even though she is in NYC and I am on the west coast time lapsed never interrupts our bond.
Christina, BridesmaidChristina is a great friend. We met 2 years ago and our friendship has grown. She was one of the two people that was at the waterfall in Hawaii when Greg proposed. She shared that amazing moment with us and it is so special to us that she can share in our wedding day as well.
Erica, BridesmaidErica is really special to both Greg and I. Erica and Greg have been friends since junior high so they share a really special history. Erica and I hit it off from the very first time we met and we have become such great friends. It means so much to us to have her in our life and wedding.
Kassey, BridesmaidKassey is another Santa Barbara, Sandpiper Golf Course girl. We worked together and became close friends that time will never change. We will always be in each other lives no matter how far away we live and can always make each other laugh!
Carmen, BridesmaidFuture Sister-In-Law, Carmen is the wife of Greg’s brother, Mike, and Mother of Lucas and Julia. She is a hard working, always there when you need her and a superb mother. Her children are a reflection of her. Both extremely well behaived, beautiful and wise beyond their years. I look forward her as a sister!
Lydia, BridesmaidLydia is an East Coaster, like myself, living in San Diego. It may be the east coaster in us that drew us to each other but really I think it is the kindness and the appreciation of having good friends, especially being so far from family. Lydia is a really amazing friend who is always supportive and ready for a good coffee and conversation. We met through our fiancés, who happen to be business partners, and have been having fun ever since.
